Public Information Centre #3
The extension of Highway 407 (highway / transitway) easterly from the current terminus at Brock Road in Pickering to Highway 35/115 with two north-south links (highway / transitway) connecting Highway 401 to the proposed extension of Highway 407, has been recommended as part of a number of transportation improvements in an earlier phase of this EA Study. Route alternatives for the extension and the two links were presented in November and December 2006.
This phase of the Study presented the results from the evaluation of the final short list of route alternatives. A technically recommended route was presented for:
- A new east-west transportation corridor (highway / transitway) to extend Highway 407 from Brock Road to Highway 35/115 in Durham Region, and
- Two north-south links (highway / transitway) connecting Highway 401 to the proposed extension of Highway 407 (East Durham link – Clarington area and the West Durham link – Ajax / Whitby area).
The meetings were held as follows:
The Project Team would like to thank all those
who attended, participated and provided valuable input during this
series of PIC. We encourage and look forward to ongoing participation
at future consultation sessions.
Public Information Centre #2
The 407 East EA Project Team held the second
series of Public Information Centres (PICs) in November and December
2006. Five PICs were held in several geographic locations throughout
Durham Region to present the "Alternative Methods (Route Alternatives)",
the route alternatives being considered as part of the route planning
phase of the EA, the process for identifying a short list of route
alternatives and a refined Study Area. The Public Information Centre
was conducted as a drop-in format from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on each
of the five nights. The PICs provided members of the public an opportunity
to discuss the project and relay comments directly to the study
team. The meetings were held as follows:
Public Information Centre #1
The
407 East EA Project Team held the first series of Public Information
Centres (PICs) in May and June 2006. Four PICs were held in several
geographic locations throughout Durham Region to present the "Transportation
Problems and Opportunities" and the assessment and evaluation
of "Alternatives to the Undertaking" (alternate ways of
addressing the transportation needs in the Study Area). A preferred
"Alternative to the Undertaking" (transportation alternative)
and preliminary Study Area was also presented. The Public Information
Centre was conducted as a drop-in format from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm
on each of the four nights. The PICs provided members of the public
an opportunity to discuss the project and relay comments directly
to the study team. The meetings were held as follows:
